JEFFREY LEDFORD NUDGES OUT BUD SHEARER AND JASON HENRY FOR WIN AT TALLADEGA
A thrilling three-wide photo finish at Talladega Superspeedway saw Jeffrey Ledford edge out Bud Shearer and Jason Henry at the line to claim victory in the season opener for the Lightning eSports Truck Series.
What began with early chaos quickly transformed into a strategy-filled battle to the finish. An incident on Lap 3 of the 50-lap event brought out the race’s only caution before the remainder of the race ran green to the checkered flag, forcing teams and drivers to carefully manage fuel through the closing stages.

The early crash involved Oren Russell, whose truck went airborne in the tri-oval before landing back on all four wheels. Despite sustaining significant damage upon impact, Russell was able to return to pit road under power and remarkably recover to finish 11th.
As the laps wound down, fuel strategy became the defining factor of the race, setting up a dramatic showdown between Ledford, Shearer, and Henry in the closing moments. The trio charged to the finish line side-by-side-by-side, with Ledford narrowly prevailing in one of the closest finishes of the season so far.
The victory marks an important statement for Ledford, who narrowly missed advancing to the championship round during last season’s playoffs.
Opening the new campaign with a win over defending series champion Bud Shearer immediately positions Ledford as an early title contender.
When asked about his goals for the season following the victory, Ledford kept his focus simple while acknowledging the opportunity ahead.
Mainly just having fun, but we’re gonna take a shot at it.
Ledford said in his post-race interview.
We got a win, so we are in the chase already. The rest of the season, we’re just gonna try and stack up wins and see what we can do.
With a playoff spot effectively secured and momentum already on his side, Ledford leaves Talladega as one of the early favorites to watch as the season unfolds.
