Reece Schaefer wins at Martinsville

The Sunday Night Showdown Truck Series made its final stop before the championship race Sunday night at Martinsville Speedway, where Reece Schaefer delivered another dominant performance on his way to victory.

Schaefer started the evening in commanding fashion by capturing the pole position and quickly establishing himself as the driver to beat. Over the course of the 250-lap event, Schaefer led 175 laps, showcasing both speed and consistency throughout the night.

After leading the opening 50 laps, Schaefer briefly lost the top spot to Austin Edstrom and later Justin Levine as pit strategy and race flow shuffled the running order.

However, once Schaefer regained the lead on Lap 132, he never looked back, controlling the remainder of the race to secure another crucial victory.

The night proved far more difficult for championship contender Justin Levine, who entered Martinsville needing a strong points performance.

A series of incidents and strategic setbacks prevented Levine from keeping pace with his championship rivals, leaving him 17 points behind entering the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on May 17. While the deficit is still mathematically manageable, Levine will likely need a near-perfect performance in the finale to capture the title.

Derek Garrison, another driver in the championship hunt, brought home a solid third-place finish in the TurnSector Media-sponsored truck. Garrison will head into the championship race 13 points behind the leader as he searches for his first series championship. The appearance marks his second consecutive trip to the Championship 4.

Joseph Causey crossed the line in second place, continuing what has been one of the strongest seasons of his career.

The Martinsville result marks Causey’s third Championship 4 appearance as he looks to finally secure the title.

Causey, a teammate to Schaefer, enters Homestead tied in wins with Schaefer, each driver having six wins on the season and separated by 1 point.

Despite the pressure surrounding the championship battle, Schaefer remained calm following the victory.

The three-time defending champion now heads to Homestead looking to secure an incredible fourth consecutive title.

There’s no pressure. It’s all for fun anyway. We’re just gonna go out there and have a good race.

Schaefer said after the race.

With four drivers having one last shot for the championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway, all eyes now turn toward the season finale to see whether Schaefer can continue his reign or if one of the challengers can finally dethrone the defending champion.
